The world moves faster with every year, and it gets even more important to take a break from this race once in a while to meet with friends and family.
Gather your loved ones for a photoshoot and freeze in time those cherished memories. Authenticity is what brings us together, let’s not cut it out of the photos. Revive your old traditions, be it gathering for a dinner together, enjoying hobbies with friends and family or simply cherishing those moments of spending time together.

What I want to show through our project are emotions, action, significant moments of life and people coming together.
Something real that you can all look back at and remember with joy.
One of the examples is dressing up the Christmas tree. It’s different in every home, and I’m not talking about the size of the tree or how many decorations you have. There’s excitement for a merry time together, there’s waiting in anticipation for so many things, relatives coming from afar, comforting food that is served mostly during this time or… gifts.
Bring these traditions back to life or capture these moments of joy that you can keep close your heart forever.
While documenting your life feels unnecessary now, you might feel like you missed the opportunity later in life, because nothing stays still for more than a click of a shutter and our life is no different.
It might not be an easy task, especially if some of your friends or loved ones never actually have been the centre of attention during the session. Everybody, at some point in life, had their photo taken — for documents, work, during events like concerts or parties. But to be in the centre of that might be something new to some people. What you can expect is the need to present good, be at your best and always look at the camera at the moment when you hear the flash going off or shutter clicking. That’s ok.
But remember, that you, your friends and family, don’t have to be professional models. Feel free to act like it’s part of your life and that it is totally normal that you are capturing these moments to later put them into your family album. I will also try to ease on the atmosphere, so that we can see those real emotions and feelings on photos that we all want to capture. The moment of stress will soon pass and everybody will laugh when looking at all the not-so-perfect shots.
That’s also the point why I think typical photo sessions at the studio, with people posing for the camera on a blank background, are not the memories I want to work on. While I have some experience in studio work, I prefer photographing real interactions between people and use natural light, be it an important gathering or just your typical Sunday evening together. I also don’t stylize those photos, so feel free to be as serious or as goofy as you want to be. Just be yourself and ask your family to do the same.
